National Program

The National Program at London Regional Artistic Swimming Club supports athletes aged 13 and older who are ready to pursue high-performance opportunities beyond the provincial competitive level. Rather than a standalone program athletes join, this pathway reflects a targeted training and competition stream for those identified as ready to progress toward national-level competition.

Qualification for the national-level begins at a provincial competition typically held in January. Athletes must rank within a quota to progress to the next national competition across Canada. Successful athletes advance to National Qualifiers and, if they meet the quota, may continue on to compete at Canadian Championships in May.

Athletes in this pathway experience increased training expectations, more advanced routine complexity, and exposure to higher levels of competition. The focus remains on continued growth in technical execution, performance quality, and competitive confidence.

Athlete Pathway

Athletes typically progress to the national program through continued development within LSC’s competitive pathway, demonstrating strong work ethic, coachability, performance readiness, and a commitment to higher training demands. Athletes may be selected by the coaching team to compete nationally, based on their technical ability, performance readiness, commitment, and long-term development potential. These athletes train with elevated expectations and prepare for the opportunity to qualify for national-level competition.

In addition to physical readiness, athletes must be prepared for the mental demands of high-performance sport. This includes commitment, focus, and the ability to manage pressure while continuing to grow in a competitive environment. LSC supports athletes in developing these skills alongside their technical training.

As athlete interest and readiness evolve, the national program is offered on a year-to-year basis. Placement is determined by the coaching team and reflects both athlete development and the overall needs of the program. This flexible approach ensures that opportunities are provided when athletes are prepared to benefit from a high-performance training environment aligned with national standards.
